What is the GLA Treasurer responsible for? Under Article VII, Section H of the GLA Bylaws, the Treasurer is the Association's chief financial officer. In everyday terms, the Treasurer is responsible for safeguarding the GLA's money and investments, depositing them in accounts held in the Association's name at financial institutions approved by the Board, and keeping accurate financial records. The Treasurer must balance the books each month and provide the President and Board with reports on financial transactions and the Association's financial condition whenever requested. The Treasurer also signs or countersigns financial documents when required and performs other financial duties properly assigned by the Board. Payments must follow the signing procedures authorized by the Board; holding the Treasurer's office does not provide unrestricted authority to spend Association funds.
